ALIYA – Making a Difference

ALIYA donates 100% of profits from each sale of its polo shirts towards cancer and emotional well-being projects by the CCC Foundation. The Crescat lobby was a buzz with people attending the launch of ALIYA on Thursday 10th December. ALIYA is a fashion label with a conscience aiming to make a difference to worthy causes in Sri Lanka.

ALIYA will donate 100% of profits from each sale of ALIYA polo shirts towards the CCChouse and CCCline projects by the Courage, Compassion, Commitment (CCC) Foundation. The CCC Foundation is a not for profit charitable organisation which supports the National Cancer Institute (NCI), Maharagama and the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH), Angoda.

The CCChouse project is a 170 bed transit home for cancer outpatients and their carers at NCI Maharagama. The NCI has over 1000 patients and only approx 870 beds. Patients without a bed are called floor patients, as that’s where they receive their treatment. The construction of the CCChouse started in January 2009 and once completed will provide a comfortable bed for cancer outpatients to receive their care and recover in a homely environment.

The CCCline or Triple C line is a telephone counselling and referral service to support all Sri Lankans. The aim of the Triple C line is to improve the emotional well-being of people by putting them in touch with their inner strengths to manage and overcome the difficulties in their lives. CCCline believes that people have the capacity to overcome a difficult situation by themselves and may only require some support to find their own solution. The Triple C line is about encouraging people to rediscover for themselves their inner Courage, Compassion and Commitment.
